Client: McDonald's All American Games
Challenge: Create an engaging social media video to build excitement around the announcement of the 2023 final roster selection.
Solution: I conceptualized an attention-grabbing video that commenced with a title intro featuring a suspenseful countdown, gradually building anticipation for the roster reveal. The highlight was the unveiling of each boys' and girls' roster selection, employing dynamic animations that added an extra layer of excitement. All set to an exhilarating soundtrack, this video effectively pumped up the audience.
Summary: This project was a valuable learning experience as it allowed me to put my motion graphic and animation skills to the test. It reinforced the importance of pre-testing new techniques before embarking on a project, and in some cases, acknowledging that meeting deadlines may require working on improving skills for future endeavors. The end result was a successful, exhilarating video that met the client's objectives
This media asset was a remarkable success, effectively promoting the 2023 roster selection for the All American Games in Houston.
Client: McDonald's All American Games
Challenge: To create a distinctive announcement social post for the upcoming All American Games in Houston, departing from previous approaches.
Solution: I introduced a fresh concept that drew inspiration from vintage basketball trading cards as the design layout. The post began with animated trading cards, adding excitement, and then transitioned into video highlights from both the men's and women's games of the previous year, culminating in an image of Houston.
Summary: While I successfully executed what was initially requested by the account team at my agency, it turned out not to align with the client's vision as they were in the process of developing a new visual identity for the All American Games. This led to confusion and back-and-forth discussions among my agency, the client, and another agency. Ultimately, we chose a different direction for branding.
This experience taught me that working with multiple parties can sometimes result in confusion and miscommunication. In the future, I would proactively suggest a meeting with the client to ensure clear communication and avoid such situations. Nevertheless, I take pride in the design I created, even though it wasn't selected, and I look forward to applying the lessons learned in future projects.
Working with the McDonald's All American Games, I had the opportunity to design the mailer box for the selected players of this year's event. It was an incredibly enjoyable project. The excitement stemmed from the idea that receiving a box with your personalized jersey, complete with your name and number, would be a thrilling experience for any player. Ensuring that every element aligned with the new visual identity was essential, resulting in a design that was simple yet remarkably eye-catching.
